Roots to Food & HCS comes to the Kids Activity Expo

Roots to Food made a welcome visit to the annual “Kids Activity Expo” held at Coopers Company & Coburn School yesterday (Sunday 22nd May 16) to show the children how to prepare and Cook, fun & healthy nutritious food, Hosted by Roots to Foods Darren Tinkler, aided by HCS Area Manager Terry Tabrett.

Food for Life – Silver Award

Havering Catering Services (HCS) are pleased to announce that we have retained our Soil Association Food for Life Silver status, which re-affirms our commitment to providing our schools with nutritional  healthy menus that exceed the School Meal Plan standards and guarantees locally sourced ingredients  and homemade dishes where appropriate , Dennis Brewin Head of Catering Operations HCS said “I am delighted to announce that Havering Catering Services have retained the Silver Food For Life Accreditation for this up and coming year, I am immensely proud of the Partnership we have with the Soil Association and you can be safe in the knowledge this accreditation confirms that your Child gets the best at lunchtime”

Hall Mead School Contract Extension

Havering Catering Services are delighted to announce that we have extended our partnership with Hall Mead for a further 3 years and look forward to supplying the pupils and staff with great healthy and fresh food from our innovative menus.

Clare Rideout, Area Manager, Secondary & Special schools commented ” A wonderful clarification in Hall Mead’s confidence in our partnership  and I look forward to working with our team to continue the great service and innovations to develop and improve our offer to pupils and staff for the next 3 years and beyond”

Royal Liberty School Contract extension

Havering Catering Services are pleased to announce that we have extended our partnership with Royal Liberty school for another five years until 2021 and look forward to continuing our successful partnership in delivering innovative, healthy meals to all pupils and staff.

HES Traded Services Conference 2016

Havering Catering Services made the presence felt at the annual London Borough of Havering Education Services conference at CEME Exhibition Centre on the 4th February 2016.

Our stand was operated by our two Area Managers Terry Tabrett & Mandy Divall, who answered questions from Head Teachers and Business Managers about our services.

Havering Catering Services (HCS) are pleased to announce that we have received the Good Diary Award for 2016 for our commitment to help promote sustainable farming for diary cows through ensuring all our Milk, butters and creams are purchased from responsibility suppliers who ensure.

  • All dairy cows are not housed permanently indoors during the grazing season
  • Welfare of all animals on diary farms is of paramount importance
  • All dairy animals are housed in a comfortable environment, so that entire herd can lie comfortably and simultaneously

Havering Catering Services (HCS) help Scargill Infants achieve Healthy Schools Gold Award

On Thursday 8th January, Scargill Infant School, Rainham were the first school in Havering to be presented with the Gold Healthy Schools award from Cllr Meg Davis, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning.

This is another example of HCA working with schools to make our children healthier for the future.

Contract extensions

Havering catering Services are pleased to announce that we have extended our partnership with Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls until 2019. On the 6th July, Frances Bardsley and Havering Catering Services introduced a bio metric cashless system and with a sterling effort from both parties this has indeed proved to be very successful. It has reduced queuing times and given the Students more time to enjoy their lunch. Clare Rideout Area manager for Secondary & Special Schools said:

“I am delighted that HCS have been given the opportunity to continue our relationship with Frances Bardsley. Working together we have seen a 10% increase through the tills since the cashless system was installed, resulting in service offers being extended”.

Havering Catering Services are pleased to announce a 3 year extension with Upminster Academy Trust for both the Infants and Juniors for a further 3 years. Terry Tabrett, Area Manager North said “I am looking forward to continuing working with Upminster Academy in providing Healthy balanced lunches for all the pupils”

”This is yet another strong partnership and we look forward to the next 3 years feeding the Children and Adults alike.”
